About Mrs. Kathy Rosa
Kathy’s love for music began as a child with her family “jam” sessions around the piano. She began piano lessons at 6 years old. While in high school she studied with Vickie Miller in Hollywood, California and competed in the Southwestern Youth Music Festival where she won several awards. It was during these early years that she began teaching young students piano through the Miller Music School in Hollywood.
After marrying her University of Santa Clara college sweetheart, Dr.Greg and Kathy Rosa chose pastoral Sonoma County to raise their 3 natural plus 2 adopted children. Kathy continued her music career there as the local church liturgist and choral director and as a volunteer music teacher at the children’s elementary school. Participating in their school's administration for many years, it was during her tenure as an elected member of the School Board of Trustees that she developed a Fine Arts curriculum.
Kathy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music as well as a Teaching Credential in Music from Sonoma State University. She taught music in the Sonoma County public school system for 10 years where she taught over 1500 children each year throughout 8 schools; after that she began private and group lessons. She is a certified Harmony Road teacher and had training in the extremely popular Kodaly and Orff instruction methods. She currently teaches at the Sonoma County Childrens’ Music School in Santa Rosa, California and is a member of Music Teachers National Association, California branch.
